Job summary

HELP Home Services is expanding its Garage Door Services Department and seeks a dependable Garage Door Technician to learn and perform residential safety and operational inspections. You will provide basic preventive maintenance, explain findings to homeowners, and identify opportunities for service upgrades.

Qualifications

• Basic familiarity with hand and power tools; willingness to learn garage door systems.
• Strong customer service, communication, organization, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and accurately document inspection findings.
• Ability to measure and perform basic installation tasks, such as weatherstripping or trim, when trained and authorized.
• Ability to work at residential locations, indoors and outdoors, and use ladders safely.
• Valid driver’s license and driving record that meet the company's requirements for any driving duties.
• Experience in handyman services, light remodeling, home maintenance, inspections, or a related customer-facing service role. (Preferred)

Responsibilities

• Inspect residential garage doors, openers, tracks, hardware, and related components for safety, operational, and maintenance concerns.
• Assess garage door function and condition using company inspection procedures and document findings.
• Perform basic preventive maintenance, including lubricating moving parts, per training and safety procedures.
• Explain inspection findings and service options, and recommend next steps to homeowners.
• Identify repair, replacement, or upgrade opportunities and coordinate referrals with sales or service teams.
• Provide accurate information about available services and pricing within company guidelines.
• Complete service records, customer notes, and required reporting using company technology.
• Meet standards for inspection quality, productivity, safety, documentation, and customer satisfaction.
• Support other department activities and help establish consistent processes as the department grows.
