Job summary

The New York Times Games team is hiring a Software Engineer to build frontend features in React/TypeScript and backend services in Node.js and Go on AWS. The hybrid NYC-based role reports to the Engineering Manager, Games CASH squad, focusing on subscription promotions and improved user experience across web and mobile.

You will work end-to-end from idea to production, owning features, instrumentation, testing, and collaboration with design, product, and other engineers.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of full-time software engineering experience building user-facing features in large-scale web apps using TypeScript and React.
• Experience with version control tools (Git, Bitbucket, etc.).
• Familiarity with server-side web development (Node.js or Go) or willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Develop and test entry points across NYT web and mobile surfaces using React, TypeScript, and HTML/CSS.
• Collaborate with partner teams to monetize games through subscriptions and marketing pages.
• Participate in full development lifecycle: design, implementation, review, testing, release.
