The ideal candidate should have experience working with Unreal Engine or other commercial game engines, be capable of analyzing and optimizing low‑level engine systems, and be proficient in leveraging AI‑assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity. This role focuses on game engine development, performance optimisation, and improving development workflows through automation and AI technologies.

Responsibilities:
1. Game Engine Development
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize game engine systems and tools, primarily using Unreal Engine 5.
  • Work with engine source code to investigate technical issues, implement new features, and improve existing systems.
  • Support the development and integration of engine subsystems, including rendering, physics, animation, and asset processing.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technical artists to address engine‑related challenges and improve development workflows.
2. Low‑Level Performance Analysis and Optimization
  • Profile and optimize CPU performance, memory usage, multithreading, and other low‑level engine systems.
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks through profiling, debugging, and code‑level analysis.
  • Optimize engine runtime performance, compilation efficiency, and overall system stability.
  • Develop practical optimization solutions based on performance measurements and technical analysis.
3. AI‑Assisted Development and Automation
  • Leverage AI coding assistants and AI agents to accelerate coding, debugging, testing, and code maintenance.
  • Explore and implement AI‑assisted workflows for code generation, code analysis, automated testing, and developer productivity.
  • Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline repetitive engineering tasks and improve development pipelines.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness, reliability, and maintainability of AI‑assisted engineering solutions.
4. Engineering Infrastructure and Technical Support
  • Improve engine build systems, compilation workflows, and development infrastructure.
  • Support technical debugging, engine integration, and cross‑platform development.
  • Develop reliable tools and utilities to improve engineering efficiency.
  • Create clear technical documentation and establish reusable engineering practices.
Qualifications:
1. Game Engine Development Experience
  • Hands‑on experience with Unreal Engine 5 or other commercial game engines.
  • Solid understanding of game engine architecture, runtime systems, and development workflows.
  • Experience debugging, modifying, or extending game engine C++ code.
  • Familiarity with game engine profiling and debugging tools.
2. Strong C++ and Systems Programming Skills
  • Proficient in modern C++, with a strong understanding of memory management, multithreading, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Solid knowledge of low‑level software systems and performance optimisation.
  • Experience identifying and resolving CPU, memory, or multithreading performance bottlenecks.
  • Ability to independently investigate complex technical issues and implement efficient, reliable, and maintainable solutions.
3. Computer Graphics Fundamentals
  • Solid understanding of fundamental computer graphics concepts, with practical knowledge and development experience in at least one of the following areas:
  • Geometry Processing: Mesh representations, geometric algorithms, spatial data structures, collision detection, or mesh processing.
