Game Designer, Player Systems - Unannounced Game

We are seeking a creative and technically skilled Game Designer to help define the core gameplay systems for an exciting new unannounced project. In this role, you will focus on designing and refining player‑centric systems such as combat, movement, weapons, abilities, and progression mechanics that deliver immersive and rewarding experiences. Working within a highly collaborative team, you will play a key part in shaping the moment‑to‑moment gameplay that defines the player's journey. This position calls for a designer who thrives in iteration, values simplicity and accessibility, and has a deep understanding of what makes gameplay engaging for both casual and advanced players. The role offers a hybrid setup, with the flexibility to combine remote and on‑site work.

Accountabilities
  • Design and implement player systems including combat, movement, and progression features to enhance the overall gameplay loop
  • Collaborate closely with art, engineering, and UI/UX teams to ensure cohesive and engaging player experiences
  • Create and iterate on features and mechanics through playtesting and feedback‑driven refinement
  • Balance player progression systems to deliver long‑term engagement and consistent rewards
  • Develop design documentation, prototypes, and balance sheets to support implementation
  • Contribute to the creative vision by proposing innovative ideas and ensuring features align with design goals
  • Participate in cross‑disciplinary discussions to ensure smooth execution of gameplay features
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in game design with a focus on gameplay systems
  • Deep understanding of core gameplay mechanics, including combat, player movement, abilities, and progression
  • Proven ability to design features that feel responsive, balanced, and satisfying to players
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills for tuning systems and maintaining gameplay balance
  • Technical proficiency with visual scripting languages or major engines (Unity, Unreal, etc.)
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving abilities
  • Experience with AAA development pipelines and iterative, feedback‑driven design processes
  • Passion for creating inclusive and engaging experiences for diverse player audiences
Pluses
  • Prior experience designing core gameplay features or systems from concept to completion
  • Familiarity with the shooter genre or action‑based titles
  • Background in related disciplines such as art, programming, production, or audio
  • Experience developing systems that run across console and PC platforms
