Job summary

Phillips-Auctioneers-LLC is seeking an Art Handler for Park Avenue Gallery to perform installations, private view preparations, and exhibition support. You will coordinate with Private Sales, conservators, and curators, handling delicate artworks and supervising freelance staff.

You will manage lighting, signage, and AV during auctions and previews, while maintaining inventory and adhering to best practices in art handling and risk management. Strong client-facing skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in an auction house, gallery or museum.
• Proficient with art handling and installation processes.
• Knowledge of lighting and AV equipment used in galleries.

Responsibilities

• Install exhibitions, unload/unpack, label, pack and load out.
• Prepare private viewings and ensure overall presentation.
• Maintain tool carts and supplies for installations.
• Provide onsite contact for Private Sales/Exhibitions.
• Assist with layout planning and use Exhibita for displays.
• Train and supervise freelance art handlers.
• Support inventory of displays and packing materials.
• Operate gallery lighting, AV, and signage during events.
• Support auction setups and on-site photography/video shoots.
• Work off-hours as needed (early mornings, nights, weekends).
