Description
Jack Shainman Gallery seeks a qualified, full-time temporary Gallery Attendant for a Tuesday through Saturday schedule during the temporary exhibition Toyin Ojih Odutola: Ilé Oriaku at the gallery’s 46 Lafayette location through July 18th, 2025, immediate hire.
Responsibilities include maintaining the safety of the gallery, assisting visitors with questions, and sometimes engaging in discussions about the art.Candidates will demonstrate expertise in safeguarding artworks and monitoring assigned areas to protect the artwork on-view during public hours.They will identify and report any safety hazards or concerns and enforce gallery rules in a courteous and respectful manner.
Additional assistance may be required for providing visitors with directions throughout the gallery space, or answer questions about the gallery programming or exhibitions.Selected candidates may also assist gallery staff with support during public programs and events.
Gallery Attendants will report to the Director of Operations and Gallery Assistants and will liaise as needed with gallery staff.
Professional appearance and demeanor with visitors and gallery staff is expected without exception.An interest in contemporary visual art is strongly encouraged.
