Job summary

Melwood seeks a First-Class Stationary Engineer to operate, monitor, and maintain a high-utility plant in Gaithersburg, MD. The role provides steam generation, chilled water production, compressed air, and CHP/cogeneration support, with 24/7 coverage and rotating shifts.

Ideal candidates have a Maryland Grade 1 license, EPA Universal CFC certification, and at least two years of independent operating experience on comparable industrial equipment.

Qualifications

• Requires Maryland Grade 1 license and EPA Universal CFC Certification.
• Minimum two years of independent operating experience as a First-Class Stationary Engineer on comparable industrial equipment.
• Experience with industrial boiler operations, central utility plant systems, chilled water production, and cogeneration systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor high-pressure steam generation equipment and associated systems.
• Maintain steam pressure, water levels, feedwater controls, and combustion efficiency.
• Conduct water treatment, blowdown adjustments, and chemical testing to maintain performance.
• Operate chilled water production systems, cooling towers, heat exchangers, and distribution equipment.
• Maintain and monitor air compressors, dryers, and compressed air systems.
• Operate CHP/cogeneration equipment and associated steam and electrical generation systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on plant equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair control systems (digital, pneumatic, electrical).
• Repair pumps, valves, piping, and related mechanical equipment.
• Monitor alarms, respond to abnormal conditions, and manage logs and turnover documents.
• Adhere to safety procedures, lockout/tagout, PPE, and site standards.
• Remain onsite with rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
