Job summary

North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center (NFETC) in Gainesville is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our clinical team. The role involves direct patient care in a secure, all-male forensic mental health setting with a focus on medication administration and ongoing assessment.

The facility operates 24/7 with orientation sessions of two weeks. Candidates should be prepared for rotating day schedules and the occasional 16-hour shift, in line with unit needs and Florida regulations.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age at time of hire.
• Must hold unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse.
• One year of acute care or two years of clinical nursing experience.
• CPR certification, or able to complete training.
• Must be able to complete full orientation at time of hire.
• Must be able to fulfill physical requirements including lifting 20 lbs., remaining alert on duty, and working 16-hour shifts on occasion.

Responsibilities

• Assess resident complaints and determine action, notifying supervisor when necessary.
• Admit and transfer residents to and from other units or outside sources.
• Administer oral and/or injectable medication and controlled medications in accordance with facility policy and Florida law.
• Observe for side effects or adverse effects to medication and report to supervisor or further treatment.
• Prepare paperwork for consults within facility and outside appointments.
• Coordinate residents appointments with unit staff to ensure medications are timed for movements.
• Provide emergency medical/psychiatric treatment within scope of practice and notify supervisor for further assistance.
• Complete incident reports factually within defined time frame.
• Complete progress notes on resident care within defined time frame.
• Respect resident rights and adhere to facility policy.
• Maintain professional behavior with residents and staff, and punctuality.

FL-DCF-Gainesville-RN - Candidates will need to attend an full two week orientation, working Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pm

Pay Rate: $36.47/hr / Vendor Rate: $47.41/hr (Candidates will be considered who exceed the established State of Florida rate card)

WORK ENVIORNMENT

The North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center (NFETC) is a maximum security, all male forensic mental health facility located in Gainesville, Florida. It has a current capacity of 193 residents.

TYPE OF PATIENTS

The average age of our residents is early 30's. The goal is to get those committed as Incompetent to Proceed to Trial (78%) back to their committing courts for disposition of their charges, and those committed as Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity (22%) to a less restrictive environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be at least 18 years of age at time of hire.


• Must hold unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse.

• Display professionalism throughout employment including, but not limited to, arriving to work on time, maintaining an accurate timesheet, and maintaining professional appearance as defined by facility policy.
