BlockReel is seeking a Senior Gaffer for a 10-day shoot of a dark comedy web series in Los Angeles. You will design and execute the lighting plan to achieve a distinct visual tone, working with the Cinematographer and Production Designer.

Own a comprehensive lighting package and bring LED and practical lighting expertise. Experience on independent productions is preferred, with a strong reel showing creative lighting for character-driven stories.

Seeking a Senior Gaffer for a 10-day shoot, paid $250/day flat rate. We're filming a dark comedy web series, "The Mortician's Apprentice," exploring the absurdities of life and death with a quirky, stylized visual aesthetic. Think early Coen Brothers meets A Series of Unfortunate Events. You'll be responsible for designing and executing the lighting plan to achieve our distinct visual tone, working closely with the Cinematographer and Production Designer. We're looking for someone with extensive experience on independent productions, ideally with a strong portfolio showcasing creative lighting solutions for character-driven stories. You must have your own comprehensive lighting package, including various fixtures, stands, gels, and power distribution. Experience with LED and practical lighting integration is essential. Shoot days are scheduled for mid-November 2026 in various locations across Los Angeles, with standard 10-12 hour days. A small grip package, catering, and on-set production support will be provided.
