Job summary

Cengage Group, a global edtech company, is seeking a Senior Accounting professional in Massachusetts to research and advise on GAAP, financial reporting and SEC matters. You will prepare technical memos and analyses, and work with internal teams to resolve complex accounting issues.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree, 6+ years of experience, and CPA preferred. You will support SOX controls and audit readiness while collaborating with internal and external partners across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
• CPA preferred.
• 6+ years of growing responsibilities and related experience; public accounting experience is a plus.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to thrive in a multi-priority, fast-paced environment and implement change.
• Strong communication and analytical skills.
• Familiarity with Workiva is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Research and advise on technical accounting topics, including GAAP, financial reporting, and SEC matters.
• Prepare comprehensive technical memos, analyses, and presentations.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve complex accounting issues.
• Assist with the preparation of financial statements, disclosures, and audit readiness.
• Operate as backup support for the financial reporting team.
• Support internal controls and SOX compliance initiatives.
• Facilitate coordination with internal and external counsel, as well as external auditors.
