Job summary

WellSpan Health in York, PA is seeking a general accountant to support financial reporting and month-end close. You will prepare and post journal entries, maintain reconciliations, analyze transactions, and ensure GAAP-compliant records.

This role partners with finance and operations to support financial statements, audits, and internal controls, contributing to accurate reporting and strong internal control environments within a busy healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting is required.
• 1 year of relevant accounting experience is required.
• Accounting/finance coursework required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, analyzes, and posts recurring and non-recurring journal entries, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely recording in accordance with U.S. GAAP and policies.
• Assists in monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including preparation and review of supporting schedules and documentation.
• Analyzes financial activity and account balances, researches discrepancies, and resolves unusual transactions.
• Prepares and maintains balance sheet account reconciliations with proper documentation and timely investigation of reconciling items.
• Supports audits by gathering documentation, preparing schedules, and responding to auditor requests.
• Prepares bank reconciliations and coordinates correction of reconciling items as needed.
• Ensures compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls; assists in regulatory filings.
