Job summary

Fairweather seeks a G&I Lead Operator for the Grind & Inject facility on the North Slope, Alaska. You will lead the crew, oversee high‑pressure injection equipment, and ensure safe, compliant waste processing for drilling, completion, and production operations.

This field role requires extensive Alaska North Slope experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to mentor junior operators while coordinating maintenance and regulatory paperwork.

Qualifications

  • 10 years of Alaska North Slope Drilling and/or Production Operations with a minimum 5 years field leadership experience
  • Recent experience with drilled/production solids processing and slurrification and high-pressure pumping operations experience
  • Experience operating, troubleshooting and maintaining equipment
  • Shakers, grinding mills, centrifugal pumps, triplex pumps
  • Knowledge of waste slurry property requirements and treatment methods
  • Direct knowledge of regulatory reporting and requirements related to operating a “Class 1” waste injection well
  • Basic computer soft skills
  • NSTC certification, including latest Alaska Safety Handbook update

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational leadership and coordinate the daily efforts of the rest of the ops crew
  • Generally, oversees the processing system; including operating the high-pressure injection equipment
  • Mentor, train and perform OJT for newer operators
  • Lead maintenance activities as required
  • Review and check all waste regulatory and compliance paperwork before allowing any offloading operations at the facility
  • Generate and distribute daily activity reports
  • Safely support general field activity as needed

Job description

Overview
G&I Lead Operator

The Grind & Inject facility located on the North Slope at a centralized waste disposal facility that will support drilling, completion, and production operations. The facility will process wastes ranging from drill cuttings, to flow back fluids, to production facility vessel clean outs, pigging wastes, sump clean outs, and any waste generated by the drilling development program that meets the regulatory requirements for injection in the disposal well. The facility will also be equipped to provide occasional truck rinses for drilling ops to maximize onsite truck availability and will support temporary or exploration rigs as required by the overall company activities and objectives.

LOCATION:

North Slope, Alaska

ROTATIONAL: 3 weeks on 3 weeks off rotations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Lead Operators are the Senior Operators of the crew and are responsible for:

Pre-Operations Phase
  • General support of Maintenance and commissioning
  • Install prefab piping, inspect pumps, mechanical checks, and prepare equipment for operations
  • Support material logistics, offloading trucks, shaking out materials, etc
  • Review, revise and create procedures, safety assessments and record-keeping documents
  • Generate and distribute daily activity reports
  • Safely support general field activity as needed
Operations Phase
  • Provide operational leadership and coordinate the daily efforts of the rest of the ops crew

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • 10 years of Alaska North Slope Drilling and/or Production Operations with a minimum 5 years field leadership experience
  • Recent experience with drilled/production solids processing and slurrification and high-pressure pumping operations experience
  • Experience operating, troubleshooting and maintaining equipment
    • Shakers, grinding mills, centrifugal pumps, triplex pumps
  • Knowledge of waste slurry property requirements and treatment methods

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Current, or previous, Supervisor-level Surface Stack Well Control Certification
  • Current Redbook certification
  • Experience leading and coordinating field operations in isolated and remote locations
  • Facility modifications, removal/install of equipment and process material, commissioning process systems
