Summary Description:
Under direction, provides direct, consultative, and other program services to students with physical disabilities, regular classroom teachers, and parents on strategies and accommodations to access the curriculum and school environment. Assists in the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEP) and participates in IEP team meetings.

As required by the duties and responsibilities of the job.
Special Requirements:
May require lifting, transfers to use equipment, use of assistive devices, and assistance with daily living skills.
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Knowledge of physical disabilities and the impact to instruction; thorough knowledge of teaching strategies, assistive devices, and accommodations for students with physical disabilities; ability to administer, interpret, and analyze data, and write concise educational assessment reports. Excellent oral and written communications and human relations skills.
Education Training Experience:
Bachelor's degree in special education with coursework in teaching students with physical disabilities, student teaching experience in the area of physical disabilities, or two years of experience in teaching the physically disabled; training and/or experience with students with physical disabilities, technology, and universal design are desirable. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
Certificate License:
Meets Maryland State Department of Education certification requirements for Standard Professional Certification I (SPC I) in special education.
