Under direction of the Foundation Programs Supervisor, plans and provides for appropriate learning experiences for students related to the Construction Foundation sponsored Young American House Project. Provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of individuals to ensure Success for Every Student. Manages and teaches students in a variety of construction and related settings. Assists program teachers to meet student outcomes. Communicates and interacts with students, parents, staff, and community. Develops, selects, and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students. Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices. Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities. Assists with ordering of materials for house site deliveries, or picks up material from vendors.

Certificate License
Meets Maryland state certification requirements in appropriate field of education as well as recognized construction or design industry certifications such as a licensed journey worker or equivalency. NCCER certifications required. Must possess a valid commercial drivers license (CDL).
Job Specific Information

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, And ABILITIES
Knowledge of MCPS curriculum, techniques for integrating curriculum, MCPS policies, and effective instructional practices. Understanding of the teaching/learning process. Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education. Ability to infuse technology into curriculum. Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, school based staff, and students. Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills. Complete knowledge of the construction process, and possess the ability to build a single family home. Thorough knowledge of all construction trades, both commercial and residential. Knowledge and application of the six performance standards that have been established for the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Teacher Professional Growth System (TPGS).
EDUCATION, TRAINING, And EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university preferred; or an associate degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college with three years industry experience; or 5 years of industry experience within the last 10 years supplemented by completion of a recognized apprenticeship and/or technical school training in the profession as well as varied and responsible experiences as a construction or design professional.
