This position is a grant-funded role, with a total FTE of 1.0, split between:

  • 0.5 FTE Primary Talent Development Coach
  • 0.5 FTE Math Focus Teacher (pos #10000019418)

Summary Description:

Under the direction of the school principal and the director of the Division of Title I and Early Childhood Programs and Services, the teacher plans and provides instruction aimed at strengthening and extending the school system’s focus on rigorous and challenging instruction. Primary talent development coaches support students demonstrating potential, monitor and evaluate student outcomes, communicate with students, parents, staff, and community, and develop or modify instructional plans to meet diverse needs. Responsibilities also include maintaining records, following procedures, and ensuring proper use of equipment and facilities.

As required by the duties and responsibilities of the job.

Special Requirements:

Attendance at school meetings, programs, and activities outside instructional hours as mandated by the MCEA agreement is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of MCPS curriculum, instructional techniques, Board policies, gifted education, and primary talent development.
  • Understanding of teaching and learning processes.
  • Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and promotes multicultural education.
  • Ability to integrate technology into the curriculum.
  • Effective collaboration skills with administrators, colleagues, staff, students, parents, and community members.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
Education, Training, and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in an applicable field of education from an accredited college or university. Meets Maryland state certification requirements in the appropriate field of education.
