Summary Description:

Under the direction of the middle school principal, plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for adolescent students. Works with interdisciplinary teams to foster a school culture conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of adolescents, ensuring success for every student. Supervises middle school students in various settings. Communicates and collaborates with students, staff, parents, and community. Develops, selects, and differentiates instructional plans and materials to meet diverse student needs. Maintains records, follows procedures, and uses data to monitor achievement. Ensures proper use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.

As required by job duties.

Special Requirements:

Attendance at school meetings, programs, and activities outside instructional hours as mandated by the MCEA agreement.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Knowledge of adolescent development, content expertise, and MCPS curriculum and policies.
  • Commitment to high expectations and the belief that all students can learn.
  • Ability to apply various instructional and behavioral strategies suitable for middle school adolescents, integrating reading, writing, math, and technology.

Education, Training, and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or university, with knowledge of adolescent learners. Meets Maryland state certification requirements in the appropriate field of education.
