Summary Description

Positions in this class are assigned to the local school to assist the administration in maintaining a safe and secure learning environment for the school community. Under the general supervision of the security team leader, assists in screening visitor access to school facilities, maintaining student class attendance, and other responsibilities related to school security operations. Receives guidance and assistance from the security team leader on more difficult or unusual situations.

Physical Demands: Sufficient physical strength to intervene in fights and physically restrain persons; stamina to spend long periods walking and standing and to complete security patrol duties. Ability to patrol outdoors in inclement and extreme weather conditions.

Special Requirements: Required to work flexible hours, including weekends, as assigned by the principal/security team leader to provide maximum security coverage. Occasionally work overtime. Must wear designated security uniforms.

Job Specific Information

Required to work flexible hours and weekends, as assigned. Only candidates who completed the screening interview with the Dept. School Safety & Security will be considered. Preference for bilingual English/Spanish candidates with knowledge of safety procedures, behavior management, investigative procedures, and excellent communication skills. The wage range is $23.68 to $33.72 per hour, based on experience. Benefits details can be found here.

Qualifications

Experience in student or personnel safety, investigation, or security is desirable. Valid Maryland class C noncommercial driver’s license, or equivalent, required.
