Position: Long Term Substitute Teacher, Kindergarten, Glenallan ES, Full Time

Start Date: August 18th (pre-service) through at least mid-November

Wage Range: $20.29 to $35.84 per hour. This position does not include benefits.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the school principal, the teacher plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students. The teacher creates a conducive environment for students' intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development, supervises students in various school settings, monitors and evaluates student outcomes, and communicates effectively with students, parents, staff, and community members. The teacher develops, modifies, and implements instructional plans and materials to meet diverse student needs, maintains accurate records, and ensures proper use and care of equipment and facilities.

Special Requirements

Attendance at school meetings, programs, and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA agreement.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of MCPS curriculum, instructional techniques, policies, and effective practices.
• Understanding of the teaching/learning process and ability to incorporate multiple perspectives and multicultural education.
• Ability to integrate technology into the curriculum.
• Effective collaboration with administrators, colleagues, staff, students, parents, and community.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of the six performance standards of the MCPS Teacher Professional Growth System (TPGS) and Supporting Services (SEIU) Professional Growth System (SSPGS).

Education, Training, and Experience

Bachelor's degree in an applicable field of education from an accredited college or university. Meets Maryland state certification requirements in the appropriate field of education.
