Position Overview

The Child Development Technician II provides direct care to infants and toddlers in the OKCPS Early Childcare Program, ensuring compliance with DHS licensing and grant requirements. The role involves maintaining quality relationships with parents and supporting the success of the Early Childcare/Parent Education Program.

Essential Duties
  1. Act as lead teacher in the classroom.
  2. Collaborate to meet Oklahoma licensing and Early Head Start standards.
  3. Implement curriculum tailored to children's needs.
  4. Maintain daily records of children’s attendance, behavior, and development.
  5. Plan daily activities and manage classroom materials and equipment.
  6. Support the center's effectiveness by sharing responsibilities and assisting during peak times or staff absences.
  7. Ensure a positive, organized learning environment indoors and outdoors.
  8. Build positive relationships with children, parents, staff, and the community.
  9. Participate in housekeeping, laundry, and all center activities, including meetings and training.
  10. Identify and report physical or behavioral concerns in children and parents.
  11. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in Early Childhood or 60 college credits in related fields.
  • Experience working with young children, preferably two years in a daycare or school setting.
  • Ability to work effectively with at-risk families.
  • Understanding of infant and toddler development and behavior management.
Physical and Working Conditions
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, and reach for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity for data entry.
  • Visual and auditory capacity to monitor children and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
