Position Overview

Create a flexible classroom environment that fosters learning and personal growth. Establish rapport with pupils, motivate them to develop essential skills and attitudes, and build positive relationships with parents and staff.

Essential Duties
  • Teach various subjects such as reading, math, science, art, and physical education following district curricula.
  • Instruct students in citizenship and basic subjects as per state laws and district policies.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials; adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs.
  • Implement fair grading practices based on clear criteria.
  • Maintain classroom standards for behavior and respect students' dignity.
  • Assess students' academic and social progress; keep records and communicate with parents.
  • Collaborate with staff to address student needs and promote a positive, safe learning environment.
  • Participate in school improvement initiatives and ongoing professional development.
  • Supervise students during out-of-class activities, including lunch, field trips, and recess.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including potential work at alternative sites during health crises.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
  • Oklahoma teaching certification appropriate to the grade level and special education certification, including specific requirements for autism, deaf-blindness, ID, ED, LD, and MD certifications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with students, staff, and parents.
Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Manual dexterity, visual acuity, and hearing ability to perform job duties.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform physical activities such as bending and stretching.
  • Prolonged sitting and occasional work outside regular hours may be required.
Work Environment
  • Work is performed in a well-lit, climate-controlled environment.
