College/Department Overview

The Office of Community Engagement empowers students to become active citizens and develop a responsibility toward community through service and volunteerism; community partnerships and connections; intentional learning opportunities; and a focus on civic engagement and critical societal issues. Through involvement and participation in Community Engagement’s programs, leadership opportunities and student-led events, UCO students have the opportunity to give back to and invest in their community on a variety of levels.

Community Engagement oversees the operations of the Central Pantry, a free, supplemental food resource on campus. Central Pantry provides access to weekly grocery shopping for any student, faculty, or staff member registered as a client. Community Engagement partners with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma to operate the Central Pantry.

Department Specific Job Functions

Tasks may include scheduling and communicating with student volunteers, collecting and recording donations, stocking, and assessing stock in the pantry, managing the pantry storage space, and hosting donation drives benefiting the Central Pantry and other local organizations.
