I. University Overview

III. Job Summary
- This student worker position is responsible for capturing authentic, engaging b-roll video footage of campus life for use in Malone University marketing and promotional videos. The student will independently identify opportunities to record activities across campus, capture high-quality video using their own phone or camera equipment, and upload organized clips to the designated Google Drive. Video editing is not required.
IV. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Captures b-roll video footage that presents Malone University as an active, welcoming, fun and engaging campus community.
- Seeks out and records a variety of campus-life moments, including events, residence hall life, classes, studying, student activities, athletics, chapel, performances and other appropriate activities.
- Independently identifies timely and visually interesting opportunities to capture footage rather than relying solely on assigned shoots.
- Uses a personal smartphone, camera or other suitable video equipment to record clear, stable and usable footage.
- Captures a variety of wide, medium and close-up shots, candid moments, campus environments and activity-focused footage that can be incorporated into future marketing videos.
- Uploads video clips promptly to the designated University Relations Google Drive using the requested folder structure and file-naming practices.
- Follows direction from University Relations regarding priority events, locations, subjects, orientation, resolution and other recording needs.
- Respects student privacy, university policies and any restrictions related to classrooms, residence halls, athletic spaces and other campus locations.
- Represents Malone University professionally and courteously while recording students, employees, guests and campus activities.
- Communicates with the supervisor about upcoming opportunities, completed coverage and any issues affecting assigned or planned recording.
- Other duties as assigned.
V. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to recognize visually interesting, authentic moments that communicate the energy and experience of campus life.
- Comfort using a smartphone or camera to capture quality video footage.
- Basic understanding of composition, lighting, camera stability and recording usable video.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative in finding recording opportunities.
- Dependability and ability to follow through on time-sensitive assignments.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good judgment and discretion when recording students, employees and campus activities.
- Ability to organize files and use Google Drive.
- Willingness to receive and apply feedback from University Relations.
- Ability to move comfortably throughout campus and attend activities at varying times, including occasional evenings or weekends.
VI. Education and Experience
- Must be a currently enrolled Malone University student in good standing.
- No professional video production experience is required; demonstrated interest in photography, videography, social media, marketing or visual storytelling is preferred.
- Must have regular access to a personal smartphone or camera capable of recording high-quality video.
VII. Working Conditions / Physical Demands
- Work is performed throughout the Malone University campus in classrooms, residence halls, athletic facilities, outdoor spaces, event venues and other campus locations.
- Schedule is flexible and will vary based on campus activities and marketing needs; some evening and weekend availability may be requested.
- Position requires frequent walking around campus and the ability to hold and operate a phone or camera for periods of time.
- Student worker is responsible for using and caring for their own recording equipment.
