Job Goal

To provide a well‑organized, smoothly functioning class environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation education, in accordance with each pupil’s ability.

Functions
Instruction and Assessment

The paraprofessional as ATSI interventionist at PUE will deliver a small‑group instruction program to under‑performing students in an organized and effective manner by:

  • Following a program and directives that engage students in learning to build fundamental skills to help them get closer to grade level.
  • Learning how to effectively deliver instruction and routinely use desired remediation programs.
  • Recognizing and responding appropriately to individual differences in students.
  • Implementing the adopted curriculum subject‑matter standards and assessment instruments to meet school and district goals.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of the subjects to be taught and the relationship to other subjects.
  • Reflecting on teaching and devising ways of improving performance on an ongoing basis.
  • Collaborating with other educators to create the most complete educational environment possible for students.
  • Utilizing technology in the teaching and learning process.
Classroom Management
  • Providing a physical environment that is safe, orderly, hazard‑free, and conducive to learning.
  • Consistently implementing approved disciplinary measures to allow for effective instruction and classroom management.
Communication
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills.
Professional Development
  • Participates in in‑service training programs, as assigned.
  • Participates in and completes the approved district Professional Development Program.
  • Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the immediate supervisor may from time to time assign.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to professional growth.
Policies and Procedures
  • Adhering to policies and procedures established by district, school, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Submitting required reports efficiently, promptly, and accurately.
  • Inventorying classroom materials, textbooks, and equipment.
Additional responsibilities
  • Maintains appropriate professional appearance.
  • Demonstrates regular attendance and punctuality.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
