Job summary

Montalbano Lumber in Houston is seeking a Load Puller to efficiently unload and stage lumber and building materials, prepare orders for pickup or delivery, and help maintain an organized yard.

You will operate forklifts, verify product quality, assist customers, and collaborate with dispatch and drivers to ensure timely deliveries. Previous lumber-yard or forklift experience is preferred; certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience in a lumber yard, warehouse, or forklift operation preferred but not required.
• Forklift certification is a plus or willingness to obtain certification.
• Ability to lift heavy materials, stand for extended periods, and work outdoors.
• Familiarity with lumber, plywood, and building materials.

Responsibilities

• Order Fulfillment: pull and stage lumber, plywood, hardware, and materials for pickups and deliveries.
• Forklift Operation: safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
• Lumber Handling: proper stacking, bundling, and securing of materials.
• Quality Control: inspect lumber and materials for defects prior to loading.
• Safety & Compliance: follow safety regulations and proper lifting techniques.

Job Title: Load Puller

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Load Puller/Unloader to join our team in the lumber yard. This role is essential for ensuring efficient material unloading and check-in, order fulfillment, proper material handling, and accurate preparation of customer and delivery loads. The Load Puller will be responsible for pulling lumber and building materials for orders, operating forklifts, and assisting with yard organization to maintain workflow efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Order Fulfillment: Accurately pull and stage lumber, plywood, hardware, and building materials for customer pickups and deliveries.
• Forklift Operation: Safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment to transport heavy loads around the yard.
• Lumber Handling: Ensure proper stacking, bundling, and securing of materials to prevent damage or shifting during transport.
• Quality Control: Inspect lumber and materials for defects, verifying accuracy before loading for fulfillment.
• Safety & Compliance: Follow all workplace safety regulations, proper lifting techniques, and equipment handling protocols.
• Yard Organization: Maintain a clean, orderly, and efficient lumber yard by restocking materials and monitoring inventory levels.
• Customer Assistance: Help customers by locating requested materials, advising on product selection, and assisting with loading.
• Collaboration: Work closely with dispatch, drivers, and yard foremen to facilitate smooth operations and timely deliveries.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Experience: Prior experience in a lumber yard, warehouse, or forklift operation preferred but not required.
• Forklift Certification: Ability to operate forklifts safely; certification is a plus or willingness to obtain certification.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy materials, stand for extended periods, and work in outdoor environments.
