Plans lessons and instructs children in activities according to an approved curriculum designed to promote social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth. Establishes and maintains a safe and healthy learning environment.
Essential Functions / Job Responsibilities:
- Prepares lesson plans and instructs children in age-appropriate activities according to a curriculum that aligns with the philosophy and goals of the Center and Company.
- Sets up and maintains the classroom to ensure a safe, fun, and age-appropriate learning environment.
- Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of the classroom, materials, and restrooms.
- Ensures the classroom is clean and ready for tours at all times and makes it available for prospective families.
- Treats children with dignity and respect, displaying friendly, enthusiastic, and caring behavior, guiding them positively, and teaching respect for themselves and others.
- Recognizes and considers each child's background, talents, interests, learning style, and pace, providing developmentally appropriate activities.
- Establishes and maintains a safe and healthy learning environment.
- Reports injuries or accidents to Management immediately and completes necessary documentation.
- Supervises children as required by the Center and state regulations.
- Participates in classroom and playground activities appropriate for children.
- Plans and conducts parent conferences; provides daily written feedback as appropriate.
- Collaborates with the Center Director and/or Owner on parent follow-up and communication.
- Maintains confidentiality of all information regarding children and families.
- Reports suspected abuse or neglect as mandated by state regulations.
- Attends staff meetings, training sessions, and other programs as requested.
- Completes annual state licensing training requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director and/or Owner.

Qualifications:
- Meets state licensing requirements for education and experience.
- Knowledge of early childhood education curriculum.
Education required:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Meets minimum State requirements.
Experience required:
- At least 2 years of teaching experience.
Physical and other abilities:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
- Use of hands for handling and feeling.
- Physical coordination, stooping, bending, and eye-hand coordination.
- Walking, standing, sitting, climbing, balancing, pushing/pulling, overhead reaching, repetitive motion.
- Visual and auditory abilities including distance, color, and depth perception, and hearing.
The work environment is primarily indoors with some outdoor exposure; noise level is moderate.
