Job summary

Georg-Fischer in Shawnee, OK seeks a Fusion Fabrication Technician 1 to understand safety, read blueprints, and perform fusion on PE pipe and fittings.

You must hold fusion certifications, pass annual recertification, maintain equipment, meet production and quality standards, and support EH&S programs. This on-site role requires lifting up to 50 lbs, standing, and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must be certified in at least two Fusion Fabrication Technician 1 certifications with hydraulic butt and/or sidewall fusion.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret process instructions.
• Proficient with measurement tools and maintaining quality logs.
• Commitment to EH&S, attendance, and production standards.

Responsibilities

• Understand and follow safety procedures and ISO, ASTM, DOT docs.
• Read and interpret blueprints when required.
• Perform fusion on various diameters and SDRs of PE pipe and fittings.
• Pass annual fusion recertification examinations to remain qualified.
• Assemble components per work instructions and SOPs.
• Maintain clean, labeled products and a safe work environment.
• Verify fusion equipment is in good condition and functioning.
• Support EH&S programs and production goals.
• Adhere to company policies, attend scheduled shifts, and work overtime when needed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Required to understand and follow all safety proceduresRequired to understand and follow work procedures as set forth by all ISO, ASTM, and DOT documentationRead and interpret blueprints whenever required by operationRequired to be certified to perform fusion on various diameters and SDRs of PE Pipe and fittings. Fusions include any combination of at least two Fusion Fabrication Technician 1 certifications as well as hydraulic butt fusion and/or sidewall fusion. Required to pass annual fusion re-certification examinations in order to remain qualified for this positionClean, label and box products in department as neededResponsible to maintain a safe working environment for all employeesRequires regular attendance per the GFCP Attendance Policy and the schedule assigned by supervisorRequired to understand and follow all company policies and procedures at all timesRequired to meet or exceed production standards of all work centers dailyRequired to maintain quality standards on all products daily including in process testing log sheetsAssemble components as required by work instructions and SOPsMust be able to verify that all fusion equipment is in good condition and performing as designedOther duties as assignedSupport and participate in the overall EH&S programsAdhere to ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 14001 Environmental, and OHSAS 18001 certification requirementsRequired Skills/Abilities:Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures within manufacturing environmentRequired to become certified in any combination of at least two certifications for Fusion Fabrication Technician 1 as well as hydraulic butt fusion and/or sidewall fusionThorough, accurate, and works error freeAble to select the proper component parts required for a work centerAdvanced knowledge of all fusion machines in the departmentMust be able to understand and utilize measurement tools that are specific to that area or productMust have good attendance record and employment in good standing (no final warning or suspension)May not have 3 or more non-conformances during a rolling 12 month period to qualify for this roleEducation and Experience:High School Diploma or equivalentAt least 60 days of hydraulic butt fusion or sidewall fusion experienceWorking Conditions / Physical Requirements:Typical office/factory environment with possibility of exposure to heat in production areasMust be able to lift 50 lbs. in a safe mannerClarity of vision and the ability to focus on a fast and repetitious operation for extended period of timeExposure to heavy equipment or components needed to produce product (safety toed shoes required)Exposure to sparks, chips and dust (eye protection required)Must be capable of maintaining a 40-hour workweek and working overtime as neededMust be able to perform repetitive motion.
