Job summary

Helion, based in Everett, WA, seeks an experienced engineer to operate and advance its pulsed-fusion device for electrical power generation. You will help execute fusion experiments, ensure safety and reliability, and continuously improve machine performance.

The role requires hands-on work with high-vacuum and high-energy infrastructure, owning uptime and troubleshooting, and collaborating with engineering, science, and production teams to push toward the world’s first fusion power plant.

Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. in a relevant engineering/physics field with hands-on experience in high-energy systems.
  • Experience owning uptime, reliability, and performance of complex experimental equipment.
  • Proven ability to run complex experiments with safety and repeatability.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and support day-to-day execution of fusion experiments ensuring safe, repeatable performance.
  • Control and monitor pulsed power systems and infrastructure with a focus on reliability.
  • Own system readiness for experiments, including setup, checks, and troubleshooting.
  • Diagnose issues in vacuum and high-energy systems to minimize downtime.
  • Apply plasma physics concepts to interpret diagnostics of magnetic fields and plasma properties.
  • Drive continuous improvement of machine operations and procedures.
