Job summary

Furniture Medic is seeking a self-motivated individual to restore wood and fabric furniture, with emphasis on upholstery assembly and installation. The role requires on-site visits to residential and commercial clients and offers a family-friendly environment focused on work-life balance.

• Handle chemical smells and sanding dust.
• Learn power tools use in the shop.
• Learn Service Fusion and keep schedule updated.
• Maintain clean, neat uniform and work attire.
• Maintain good driving record.
• Submit to a background check.
• Manage shop workflow without others' assistance.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Furniture Medic is looking for a self-motivated individual to perform restoration on all types of wood and fabric furniture with an emphasis in upholstery assembly and installation. This position also requires on site visits to both residential and commercial customers. We specialize in providing restoration services for the insurance and moving industries. We are a family friendly small business that understands the importance of work-life balance.

Job Responsibilities: (listed in no certain order)

• 1. Furniture upholstery repair and new install work as needed or directed. (includes but is not limited to all methods of upholstery application, spring and frame work, some basic sewing, foam repairs and lay-ups, frame re-glue work, recliner mech work, parts fabrication, pick-ups and deliveries, finish touch-up repairs, on-site repairs, after hours repairs)
  2. Maintain shop stock and help order shop supplies as needed.
  3. Manage a work flow with our seamstress.
  4. Be willing and able to work in customer’s homes or businesses following Furniture Medic’s standards.
  5. Set and keep consistent work hours.
  6. The ability to lift and carry at least 75 to 80 pounds.
  7. The ability to handle chemical smells and sanding dust.
  8. Learn proper methods and uses of the power tools in the shop.
  9. Learn the software called Service Fusion and maintain your schedule on the computer and / or on your personal device.
  10. Customer communication as needed.
  11. Maintain a clean and neat uniform. Employee to provide their own work pants. Khaki or similar slacks preferred to jeans.
  12. Maintain a good driving record.
  13. Must submit to a back-ground check.
  14. Manage workflow through the shop jobs without assistance from other Furniture Medic workers.
  15. Other duties as needed by Furniture Medic.

Work Hours:

• 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday with occasional after hours works as needed.
• Over-time as needed.
• Furniture Medic will be the employer.

Compensation:

• Beginning hourly rate of $16 per hr.
• We have a 30 day trial review at 30 days. At that time either party can terminate employment without questions.
• At 90 days a performance review initiates full-time benefits of standard paid holidays, paid time off and a discussion of wage increase.
• Yearly reviews are conducted at the start of each calendar year.
• Pay Period is on the 1st and 15th of each month.
