J.B. Hunt is seeking a Furniture Repair Technician in Raleigh, NC. The role involves shaping, finishing, and refinishing high‑grade furniture and providing guidance on returns. Candidates must handle multiple shifts including nights and weekends and maintain strict quality control.

The ideal person has 1–2 years in material handling, upholstery or woodworking, with a High School Diploma or GED. Physi cally capable of lifting up to 100 pounds and working in a warehouse setting.

Qualifications

  • 18 years or older with 1-2 years on-the-job experience in material handling, upholstery and woodworking.
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred with relevant shop experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and work across shifts including nights/weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Read work orders and determine materials and equipment needed.
  • Mix finish ingredients and apply finishes to furniture as specified.
  • Fill cracks, smooth surfaces, and repair damaged parts using putty, glue, nails or screws.
  • Inspect furniture to determine damage and best repair method.
  • Maintain inventory for repair parts and operate MHE for setup.
  • Compile reports on returns and QA metrics; assist in problem resolutions.
  • Perform check-ins/outs and verify order completeness and condition.

Provides guidance and suggestions on product returns, procedures and solutions to ensure high quality services are provided to customers and vendors. Incumbent must be able to work any shift to satisfy the demand for flexibility of scheduling to ensure operational success. This includes, but is not limited to, day shifts, night shifts and weekend shifts.Job Description:Key Responsibilities:Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments, material, and equipment needsMix finish ingredients to obtain desired colors or shadesFill and smooth cracks or depressions, remove marks and imperfections, and repair broken parts, using plastic or wood putty, glue, nails, and/or screwsExamine furniture to determine the extent of damage or deterioration, and to decide on the best method for repair or restorationBrush, spray, or hand-rub finishing ingredients, such as paint, oil, stain, or wax, onto and into wood grain; then apply lacquer or other sealersMaintain the inventory for parts necessary for the installation and maintenance of appliances so they are stocked with sufficient quantities and reordered when depletedOperate Material Handling Equipment (MHE) to setup for product repairCompile reports regarding returns activities and provide guidance/ suggestions returns information for specific product categories within a merchandising department.
