Job summary

Ellie Aiello Interiors LLC is seeking a designer to own the creative and technical execution of furniture selections for luxury residential and multi-family projects. You will lead design decisions, develop custom pieces, and coordinate FF&E packages to support overall design intent.

The role requires fluency in Revit and/or AutoCAD, the ability to liaise with vendors and clients, and a willingness to travel for project installations in Austin.

Qualifications

• Degree in Interior Design is required.
• Proven portfolio of furniture design and FF&E selection for multi-family or residential projects.
• Fluency in Revit and/or AutoCAD; familiarity with typical design-studio workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead furniture selection and develop custom pieces for multi-family and high-end residential projects.
• Prepare supplemental FF&E packages (window treatments, artwork, accessories) that complement design intent.
• Present concepts to clients with confidence and translate feedback into actionable steps.
• Liaise with vendors, fabricators, and purchasing agents to verify pricing, lead times, finishes, and compliance requirements.
• Ensure all furniture meets ADA guidelines, flammability codes, and performance specs.
• Assist with procurement tasks: quotes, PO creation, tracking, problem-solving.
• Coordinate with purchasing agents on change orders, shipping issues, and punch-list items.
• Travel to project sites, lead furniture installations, and assist during install days.
• Track hours and utilization in the studio time-tracking system; manage deadlines.

ROLE PURPOSE:

Own the creative and technical execution of furniture selections—custom and contract-grade as well as supplemental packages while flexing into procurement to support purchasers.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Design & Specification

• Lead furniture selection and develop custom pieces for multi-family and high-end residential projects.
• Prepare supplemental FF&E packages (window treatments, artwork, accessories) that complement overall design intent.
• Present concepts to clients with confidence and clarity; field feedback and translate it into actionable next steps.
• Liaise with vendors, fabricators, and purchasing agents to verify pricing, lead times, finishes, and compliance requirements.
• Ensure all furniture meets ADA guidelines, flammability codes, and performance specs.
• Jump into procurement tasks as workload demands - quoting, PO creation, tracking, problem-solving.
• Partner with purchasing agents to resolve change orders, shipping issues, and punch-list items.
• Travel to project sites, lead furniture installations, and roll up your sleeves for install days.

Project & Time Management

• Track billable vs. non‑billable hours in the studio’s time‑tracking system; hit utilization targets.
• Juggle multiple deadlines with poise, flagging risks early and proposing solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Expertise:

• Degree in Interior Design—or equivalent professional experience.
• Proven portfolio of custom furniture design and FF&E selection for multi‑family or residential projects.
• Fluency in Revit and/or AutoCAD; comfort with typical design‑studio workflows.

Technical Know-How

• Deep understanding of contract‑grade furniture specs, performance fabrics, and code compliance (ADA, CAL 117, NFPA 260, etc.).
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and ID construction documents.

LOGISTICS:

• Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle for site visits, errands, and installs.
• Willingness to travel for project installations and work extended hours during install weeks.
