Job summary

Le Sueur Incorporated is seeking a forklift-equipped worker to perform alloying and metal handling tasks in a manufacturing setting. You will melt and re-melt metals, transfer molten material to molds or trucks, and regulate furnace temperatures to meet specifications.

Responsibilities include quality inspection, inventory labeling, and delivering ingots to casting machines. Prior forklift experience and basic math skills are desired, with flexibility to adjust duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Six months of forklift experience or more.
• Basic math skills and effective use of a computer.
• Ability to read and understand English language work instructions.
• Independent decision-making and good self-management.
• Preferred forklift experience in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Perform alloying of metals to specification and re-melt scrap.
• Transfer and pour molten metal into molds, bull ladles, or trucks.
• Regulate furnace/metal temperature and skim dross and flux.
• Maintain and clean furnace and perform basic repairs.
• Deliver ingots and molten metal to casting machines and inspect quality.
• Identify and label ingot inventory and monitor for deviations from specifications.
• Operate forklift as required and comply with safety procedures.

Job description

12 hour shifts 5am - 5:30pm Work 36 hours and get paid for 40 hours.

Position Summary: Performs a variety of tasks such as alloying metals to specification, re-melting scrap; transferring and pouring molten metal into molds, bull ladles, or trucks; regulating furnace/metal temperature; stirring furnace, skimming off dross and cold flux; maintaining and cleaning furnace, making repairs; delivering ingots and molten metal to casting machines; or monitoring, identifying and labeling ingot inventory. Inspects for quality, defects, and deviations from specifications.

• Responsible for quality of work and appropriately resolving unusual operating conditions.
• Routinely operates a forklift.
• Generally works at an assigned workstation.
• Willingly modifies work schedule and duties to accommodate Company needs.
• All other duties as assigned.
• May require the successful completion of specific education, training, or certifications.

Minimum Education: Reading and understanding English language work instructions
Preferred Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Minimum Skills/Experience: Six months of forklift experience, effective computer use, basic Math skills, independent decision-making, and effective self-management.
Preferred Skills/Experience: One year of forklift experience in a manufacturing environment

Functional Requirements

• Manually lift and move product and materials up to 50 lbs. through regular physical exertion, including but not limited to reach forward, reach overhead, lift, carry, crouch, and bend
• Power grip and wrist turn, including the use of hand tools and/or steering fork truck
• Walk, sit, or stand for up to 12 hours with intermittent breaks
• Push/pull up to 100 lbs.
• See, inspect, handle and evaluate product quality
• Read and understand written English language work instructions
• Work in non-climate controlled environments, including hot and humid conditions
• Climb ladders and stairs of varying heights
