Job summary

Service Corporation International Brunswick is seeking a Funeral Director/Embalmer Apprentice to assist families with funeral arrangements and final disposition. Under supervision, you will perform transfers, care for the deceased, and support ceremonies in a respectful, organized manner.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, enrollment in mortuary science, and state licensing compliance. A valid driver’s license and basic computer skills are required to support contracts and aftercare

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required or equivalent.
Currently enrolled in or completing a mortuary science program per state requirements.
Minimum 6 months of experience in a funeral home, crematory, or cemetery preferred.
Must meet state licensing requirements and have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

Performs on-call duties: answer families, provide initial details, coordinate transfers.
Care for the deceased with respect and perform embalming-related tasks as licensed.
Assist with funeral and memorial arrangements in line with company policies.
Handle contracts and payments following policy guidelines.
Coordinate with families on veterans recognition and interment/cremation options.
Oversee service logistics: ushering, parking, vehicle operation, setup and teardown.
Ensure compliance with licensing and regulatory rules.
Provide aftercare support where appropriate.
