Job summary

Carriage Services is seeking a Funeral Director/Embalmer to join our team in a full-time capacity. You will meet with families to arrange personalized memorial services, ensure proper documentation, and coordinate services with our care center locations.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years of experience, hold a Funeral Director/Embalmer license or be able to obtain one in the state, and are willing to engage with the community to grow our market. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as Funeral Director/Embalmer.
• Valid Funeral Director/Embalmer license or ability to obtain in the state where business operates.
• Demonstrated willingness to participate in growing market through community involvement.
• Valid state issued driver’s license in good standing with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Meet with client families to listen and arrange personalized memorial services.
• Ensure timely and accurate document filing per laws and regulations.
• Conduct and attend services regularly.
• Maintain open communication and up-to-date client files.
• Follow company-provided training.
• Work on-call with embalming skills at care center locations.
• Utilize proprietary software for merchandise options, contracts, and forms.
• Lead employees to maintain high professionalism and service quality.
• Participate in events with community groups and organizations.

Compensation: $35+ Per hour

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Funeral Director/Embalmer.
• Valid Funeral Director/Embalmer License and/or the ability to obtain licenses or application by endorsement in the state where business is located.

Job Duties

• Ensures timely and appropriate document filling in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.
• Conducts and attends services regularly.
• Maintains open and effective communication and accurate, up-to-date client files.
• Understand and implements company provided training.
• Works on-call/first call with proven embalming skills in our care center location(s).
• Utilizes proprietary software for merchandise options, contracts, and complete necessary forms.
• Leads employees to ensure high standard of professionalism and service level is achieved; and
• Participation in events alongside community groups and/or organizations.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

The duties associated with this position are generally performed in an indoor office setting; however, some duties may be performed outdoors. Outdoor duties may require exposure to natural elements such as inclement weather, extreme temperatures, uneven ground, dust, gas, and/or fumes.

Must have sufficient strength and manual dexterity and must be willing to work safely and comply with the Company’s safety procedures, including wearing any personal protective equipment that may be required.

Employees in this role are regularly required to climb, sit, stand, bend, kneel, and frequently lift up to 75 pounds, and may be required to lift up to 100 pounds.

Performance of this position’s duties may also require power reaching, pushing, and pulling.

This position’s duties require routine exposure to chemicals and/or blood borne pathogens.

Must be able to drive a company vehicle and maintain a good driving record and must be insurable under company vehicle insurance.
