We currently have an opening for a Funeral Director/Embalmer at SC Columbia Care Center. The Funeral Director/Embalmer manages all phases of funeral arrangements, from setting up services to final disposition.

Overview & Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure each client family is presented with all service and merchandise options – Every Family, Every Option, Every Time
  2. Maintain open communication and accurate, timely client files to enhance location efficiency
  3. Participate in community events and build community relationships to improve market share
  4. Perform additional duties such as car washing, building/equipment repair, and pre-need planning as assigned
  5. Oversee team members during services, ensuring professionalism and role clarity
  6. Provide feedback on team performance to meet business expectations
  7. Work on-call/first call in rotation, including hospital, hospice, or residence visits
  8. Transfer, embalm, dress, cosmetize, and prepare deceased according to family instructions and licensing requirements
  9. Meet with families to educate and arrange personalized funeral services, ensuring high-quality experiences
  10. Complete all tasks following arrangement conferences
  11. Ensure timely completion of paperwork, permits, and certificates per regulations
  12. Conduct and attend funeral services regularly
  13. Lead post-service follow-ups as needed
Requirements & Qualifications:
  1. Current state licensure for funeral directing & embalming
  2. Self-motivated and energetic
  3. Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  4. Caring, empathetic, and dedicated to excellent customer service
  5. Knowledge of diverse philosophical, religious, and cultural practices
  6. Understanding of ethics, customs, and their cultural impacts
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  8. Valid driver’s license with a clean record
