Job summary

Copeland Funeral Service is seeking a motivated Funeral Director/Embalmer Apprentice for hands-on experience under licensed supervision. You will gain practical experience in funeral directing, embalming, removals, family care, cremation operations, and administrative duties while completing apprenticeship requirements for state licensure.

The role offers the chance to learn across operations within a respected, family-oriented funeral home and to develop professional competencies for licensure.

Qualifications

• Mortuary science student or recent graduate preparing for state licensure.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed funeral directors with funeral, memorial, graveside, and visitation services
• Assist with the preparation, embalming, dressing, cosmetizing, and casketing of decedents
• Participate in first-call removals from hospitals, residences, nursing homes, and medical examiner offices
• Assist families with arrangements under the supervision of a licensed funeral director
• Prepare required documentation and maintain accurate records
• Assist with cremation operations while following all state laws and company policies
• Maintain preparation room, vehicles, and equipment to the highest professional standards
• Deliver urns, death certificates, and other funeral-related items as needed
• Participate in the on-call rotation, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Provide exceptional, compassionate customer service to every family served
• Perform other duties as assigned to support funeral home operations
