Compassionately facilitates funeral arrangement discussions with deceased next of kin and presides over visitation, funeral, and graveside services in accordance with family’s wishes; company expectations; and local, state, or federal laws. As the licensed Funeral Director, responsible for the compliance with all mortuary, health, and vital statistics regulation compliance within the funeral establishment(s).

Job Responsibilities
  1. Arrangements Conference
  • Receives or initiates calls to deceased next of kin, exhibiting concern and empathy, obtaining or confirming deceased and family contact information, briefly discussing needs (including languages), scheduling appointments, and emailing confirmations.
  • Performs removals or transfers adhering to company standards, caring for the deceased respectfully, and updating software status.
  • Greets next of kin, escorts to meeting space, initiates and facilitates arrangements, discusses available services and merchandise, and promotes additional funeral-related offerings.
  • Transitions to Funeral Services Counselor/Advisor for further service options and contracts; may perform responsibilities in absence of FSA/FSC.
  • Reviews and authorizes merchandise and service contract revisions.
  • Directing Services
    • Confirms authorization for services, presides as Master of Ceremonies, and is present for graveside services, verifying proper procedures are followed.
    • Inspects deceased, adjusts attire or communicates concerns, inspects services against arrangements, and interacts with family to fulfill requests and gather pre-need leads.
  • Event Planning
    • Handles event planning tasks, including resource coordination, producing memorial products, preparing event spaces, and post-event cleanup.
    • May perform attendant duties or attend community events to promote services.
  • General
    • Works under guidance, applying licensure within regulatory standards, collaborating with team members, and ensuring compliance with laws.
    • Proactively manages workload, seeks guidance when needed, and adapts to new processes or cultures.
    Minimum Requirements

    Education & Licenses

    • Graduated from an accredited school of mortuary science
    • Current Funeral Director license in practicing state
    • Valid driver’s license with acceptable record

    Experience

    • Industry experience preferred

    • Strong reasoning, problem-solving, and quick learning skills
    • Results-oriented, motivated, positive attitude, self-motivated
    • Ability to build trust and professional relationships
    • Effective communication skills, public speaking, proficiency in databases and MS Office

    • Frequent sitting or standing, climbing stairs, physical effort, ability to push/pull up to 150 pounds
    • Flexible hours, including nights and weekends as needed
