Resurrection has an opening for a Funeral Coordinator role! This position is part-time, nonexempt and is located at our Leawood campus located at 13720 Roe Avenue.
Job Summary
The Funeral Coordinator exists to provide compassionate, organized support to families as they prepare for and experience a funeral or memorial service at Resurrection. This position is responsible for serving as the family's primary point of contact for the logistical details of the service, coordinating with the officiating pastor, the Funeral Ministry team, funeral homes, and other providers, and leading day-of-service logistics so that families and guests experience exceptional care and hospitality during a tender and important time.

Position-Specific
- Meet with families and the officiating pastor to discuss logistical needs for the funeral or memorial service.
- Serve as the family’s primary contact for service logistics.
- Coordinate details including visitation, family arrival, memorabilia displays, flowers, guest books, reserved seating, receptions, and other family needs.
- Communicate service details and changes with the Funeral Ministry team and other Resurrection staff involved in the service.
- Coordinate with funeral homes and other outside providers as needed.
- Anticipate family needs and help provide a calm, organized experience throughout the planning process.
- Arrive in advance of the service to ensure all spaces are prepared and welcoming.
- Welcome the family upon arrival and serve as their primary logistical contact throughout the day.
- Direct Funeral Assistants serving at the service.
- Oversee the placement of flowers, memorabilia, signage, guest books, tables, chairs, and other service elements.
- Assist with visitation, guest flow, reserved seating, and other hospitality needs.
- Respond calmly and graciously to last-minute changes or unexpected needs.
- Coordinate reception setup and transitions when applicable.
- Ensure family belongings, memorabilia, and flowers are gathered and appropriately handled following the service.
- Oversee cleanup and restoration of spaces before the Funeral Ministry team leaves.

Qualifications
- Ordination/Certification Required: Must be a current Resurrection Congregational Care Minister (CCM).
- Physical requirements: Ability to stand and walk for several hours at a time; lift and carry up to 30 pounds; assist with setting up, moving, and taking down tables, chairs, easels, displays, and other funeral-related materials; and move throughout Resurrection facilities while assisting families and guests.
- Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate care to individuals experiencing grief and loss.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm, flexible, and solution-focused in an emotionally sensitive environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with families, pastors, staff, volunteers, funeral homes, and other service providers.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional and ministry boundaries.
- Dependable and punctual.
- Comfortable taking initiative and making appropriate decisions when needs arise.
- Must be available to coordinate a minimum of three funeral or memorial services per month.
- Funeral services are scheduled based on family needs and may occur on varying weekdays and Saturdays.
- Hours are variable and depend on the funeral and memorial service schedule.
- Must have sufficient schedule flexibility to participate in advance planning and be present on the day of the service.
