Overview

Guardian Angels for Soldier's Pet (GAfSP) was organized in January 2005 to support deploying service members and veterans who may be unable to care for their pets during deployment or medical situations. The organization operates multiple programs, including the Pet Foster Home program (covering all 50 states and all branches of service) and a Military Pet Assistance (MPA) fund for specific situations. Additional initiatives include MVP Sanctuary (TX) and Warriors' Angels (WA) in TX, aimed at supporting service members and their families and assisting veterans diagnosed with PTSD in obtaining service dogs through a training facility at the TX property as part of the MVP Sanctuary development.

The content below describes the GAfSP Fundraising Committee role, which focuses on raising funds to implement and maintain capital projects. The committee reports to the Capital Project Director and interacts with the Communications and Event Committees.

Responsibilities

• Develop an action plan to raise the funds required to make the project a reality.
• Maintain a list of supporters within the Central TX area.
• Submit documents required by an Event Host for participation at events for review and signature by the National office.
• Recruit volunteers within the event area to assist at specific events.
• Attend and participate in on-site monthly meetings with the Capital Project Director.
• Prepare and submit a quarterly Activity Report to the National office by the 15th of the month following the reporting month (example: submit by April 15, 2017 for Q1 2017).
• Prepare and submit a monthly Volunteer Service Hours (VSH) report to the National office by the 5th of the month following the report month.

Qualifications / Desired Skills

• A passion to help military service members, veterans, and their pets, and the ability to work with others who share this passion.
• Professional, organized, reliable, able to work with a diverse group of people, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Understand, follow, and adhere to the Organization’s mission, purpose, procedures, and policies.
• Previous public speaking experience is helpful.
• Owns a computer (desktop or laptop).
• Comfortable using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) or Open Office, and communicating via the internet, phone, and email.
• Commitment of at least 1 year in this position, with an average of 25–30 hours per month.
