Job description

Fundraising and Events Specialist-Part Time

DREAM Adaptive Recreation (DREAM), based in Whitefish, Montana, seeks a dynamic individual to join the development team as the Fundraising and Events Specialist. Under the direction of the Development Manager, the Fundraising and Events Specialist will:

  1. Support DREAM’s annual development campaigns by coordinating outreach, tracking donor engagement, and managing related administrative tasks.
  2. Assist with donor stewardship by maintaining relationships, preparing acknowledgment letters, and ensuring timely communication.
  3. Facilitate community outreach initiatives to engage the public, promote DREAM’s mission, and encourage community support.
  4. Assist in the planning and execution of annual and community-based fundraising events, including but not limited to DREAM’s gala, smaller-scale donor events.

This part-time position averages 20 hours per week, with increased hours during major event periods. Occasional evening and weekend commitments are required to support events.

Primary Duties:
  1. Work with the development manager to cultivate, solicit, steward, and acknowledge a portfolio of individual, corporate, and in-kind donors.
  2. Assist in the development, planning, and execution of key fundraising events throughout the year.
  3. Coordinate and represent the organization at outreach events, such as booth and tabling opportunities at community events, farmers markets, pint nights, etc.
  4. Maintain an accurate database of prospects, individual donors, foundations, corporate and donor-related information to support all development campaigns and events.
  5. Attend and assist the development manager with committee meetings as needed.
  6. Oversee and support volunteers who assist with various projects in the office and at community outreach opportunities and events.
  7. Assist in grant research and tracking.
  8. Work in Canva to design social and web digital assets and assist with maintenance of the DREAM website, social media campaigns, marketing, and outreach.
  9. Work collaboratively with the Executive Director, Development Manager, Operations Specialist, and other staff members.
  10. Represent DREAM in a positive and professional manner.
Other Expectations:
  1. Maintain a consistent office schedule and dependable presence.
  2. Follow organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  3. Maintain confidentiality of donors, organizational information, and workplace matters.
  4. Complete tasks and other duties deemed necessary for the success of the organization.
  5. Maintain a positive attitude and address issues directly and in a timely and professional manner.
  6. Ability to work extended hours and weekends around events when needed.
  7. Ability to travel for work-related matters as necessary.
Education and Experience:
  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field preferred.
  2. One to three years of experience as an Event or Fundraising Assistant, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  3. Experience with CRM databases and Microsoft Office Suite.
  4. Experience with project management and a proven track record of meeting deadlines.
  5. Strong interest in nonprofit fundraising, events, and community engagement.

Physical Requirements:
  1. Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, talk or hear. Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  2. Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  3. Vision requirements include close, distant, color, peripheral, depth and ability to adjust focus.
  4. Fast-paced, highly interactive office environment with moderate to high noise levels.
  5. Occasionally required to work outside in cold weather and other environmental conditions.
  6. Required to work outside of regular business hours for events.
  7. Occasionally required to travel for work.
Wage Range:

$17.50 - $24.00/hour, depending on experience; opportunity for growth.
