Job summary

Great West Engineering in Helena, MT is seeking an experienced Funding Specialist to support state and federal grant and loan activities across all project phases. You will research funding opportunities, prepare applications, track deadlines, and coordinate requirements with clients and agencies.

The role emphasizes accuracy, timely reporting, and collaboration with the Funding Manager to ensure compliant funding delivery and closeout, with comprehensive benefits and a strong team culture.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of grant and loan programs, compliance, and financial management.
  • Experience supporting applications, reporting, budgets, reimbursements, and funding requirements.
  • Strong communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage deadlines, work independently and collaboratively, and use Microsoft Office effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Support state and federal grant and loan activities for public infrastructure projects through all phases, including pre-award, award, post-award, and closeout.
  • Research funding opportunities, prepare and submit application materials, coordinate project requirements, track deadlines, and support follow-up activities.
  • Assist with award acceptance, post-award administration, compliance monitoring, reimbursement requests, reporting, payment tracking, and closeout documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and organized project records, including correspondence, approvals, submissions, and supporting documentation.
  • Review funding, compliance, labor, and project records for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and adherence to applicable requirements.

Additional Responsibilities as Needed:

  • Assist with client, agency, contractor, and stakeholder coordination; prepare meeting materials; and document assigned follow-up items.
  • Perform quality-control reviews of funding deliverables.
  • Participate in training and professional development to maintain current knowledge of funding programs, regulations, and agency guidance.
  • Complete other funding and project-support duties assigned by the Funding Manager.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of relevant experience in grant writing, grant administration, funding, project support, public administration, finance, communications, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
