The fund development/marketing manager is a key member of KANDU’s team, responsible for managing fundraising efforts, donor engagement, and leading special projects and events that align with the organization’s strategic goals. Reporting to the marketing director, this role requires a well-rounded professional with strengths in relationship-building, project coordination, and creative problem-solving.Experience in graphic design and visual communications is ideal, as this role supports marketing efforts through the creation of compelling donor-facing and event materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the development and execution of an annual fund development plan, including strategies for donor retention, new donor acquisition, and cost-effective fundraising.
- Support relationship building with current and potential donors, sponsors, and foundations.
- Coordinate donor communications, gift acknowledgments, and recordkeeping in collaboration with finance.
- Help maintain centralized records on donors, donor history, events, and grant activity.
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to support campaigns, promotions, and storytelling.
- Assist with writing grant proposals and fundraising appeals.
Project Management & Events
- Plan and manage special fundraising events and other projects from concept to completion, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy.
- Oversee event logistics, budgeting, sponsorship outreach, volunteer coordination, and post-event evaluations.
- Define project scopes, goals, timelines, and deliverables in coordination with the marketing director and executive director.
- Track project milestones, manage documentation, and ensure deadlines and budgets are met.
- Report on project progress and outcomes to leadership and relevant stakeholders.
- Serve as the point person for KANDU’s involvement in trade shows, advertising efforts, and community presentations.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in marketing, communications, nonprofit management, or a related field preferred, but equivalent experience will also be considered. 2–4 years of experience in fundraising, project management, or nonprofit administration.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills; able to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with donor databases or project management software.
- Experience in event planning and stakeholder communications is strongly preferred.
- Ability to interpret and analyze data, track KPIs, and assess project performance.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and work occasional evenings/weekends for events.
- Graphic design experience is ideal, including experience with programs such as Microsoft Publisher, Canva, and Adobe InDesign.
- Must pass a caregiver background check as required by KANDU’s contracts.
