Job summary

Pennington Partners & Co. is seeking a meticulous Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting for a portfolio of investment entities. You will handle payroll onboarding, accounts payable, and general ledger activities while collaborating with the finance team to ensure timely month-end closes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred.
• 1 year of relevant accounting experience preferred; fund accounting experience is a plus.
• Proficiency in Excel, especially pivot tables and VLOOKUP.
• Familiarity with cloud-based accounting platforms; QuickBooks a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
• High integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
• Self-motivation and ability to work independently.
• Strong analytical skills and curiosity.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day accounting and reporting for a portfolio of investment entities.
• Coordinate onboarding and payroll data entry for new employees and benefits enrollment.
• Process vendor invoices and code expenses across entities; prepare 1099s.
• Reconcile intercompany accounts and assist with month-end closings.
• Assist with tax returns, K-1 distributions, and performance reporting.
• Coordinate with auditors and tax preparers for fund audits.
