Job summary

Aztec Group is seeking a skilled Fund Accountant to manage a portfolio of fund structures and support the Senior Fund Accounting Manager. You will oversee quarterly financial statements, capital calls, distributions, and related reporting.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in fund accounting or audit, a bachelor’s in accounting/finance, and CPA is desirable. Strong client liaison, teamwork, and system experience with Yardi or Investran are valued.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in Fund Accounting or Audit, ideally in the alternative funds sector.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • CPA certification is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and reporting for alternative funds.
  • Experience preparing financial statements, capital calls and distributions.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review quarterly financial statements to investors.
  • Review capital statements and investor notices.
  • Oversee schedules supporting general ledger balances.
  • Review capital call notices to investors.
  • Supervise and train staff in accounting processes.
  • Collaborate with auditors and tax preparers during year-end audits.
  • Ensure ISAE compliance and risk event logging.

About the role

Reports to the Senior Fund Accounting Manager The purpose of this position is to account for a varied portfolio of fund structures in conjunction with the Senior Fund Accounting Manager / Associate Director.

Key responsibilities
  • Preparation and review of quarterly financial statements to investors of the Fund, in accordance with US GAAP (and at times IFRS and UK/Lux GAAP).
  • Oversee and review the preparation and distribution of quarterly investor capital statements to investors.
  • Review the preparation of schedules to support the general ledger balances reported in the quarterly financial statements.
  • Oversee and review the preparation and distribution of capital call notices to investors.
  • Review the bookkeeping for a range of funds, management companies and associated fund structures.
  • Review all aspects of accounting matters for a limited portfolio of fund structures including acting as a first reviewer on equalisations and carry calculations.
  • Prepare and review distribution notices to investors.
  • Client relationship management including responding to client requests.
  • Calculate and review complex waterfall structures and associated carried interest.
  • Calculate management fees owed to the management Company for investment and portfolio management services provided to the Fund.
  • Liaise with client auditors and tax preparers, providing them with reports/support to assist them during the year end audit.
  • Complete audit confirmations to satisfy procedures performed for the audits of investors or the Fund.
  • Act as a higher authority on day-to-day accounting queries and act as 4-eyes signatory on accounting matters, ensuring that company policy and professional and regulatory guidelines are adhered to and that a professional quality of service is provided to clients and external contacts.
  • Ensure ISAE compliance is adhered to, making sure all risk events are recorded and acted upon promptly.
  • Supervise and assist in the training, development and the appraisal process for members of staff.
  • Supporting projects to improve process efficiencies and internal controls.
  • Collaborating with internal support teams on testing of new system functionality or reports.
Skills, knowledge, expertise
  • 5+ years experience in Fund Accounting or Audit, ideally in the alternative funds sector (either in-house with a fund manager or a fund administrator).
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA certification is highly desirable.
  • Sound technical knowledge of US GAAP and reporting required for the alternative funds sectors.
  • Experience in the preparation of financial statements, capital calls and distributions and capital activity.
  • Demonstrable professional interpersonal skills are required to develop strong working relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Previous experience of supervising, leading and coaching a team.
  • Excellent collaboration skills and passionate team player with a curious approach.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience of using Yardi, eFront or Investran is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is essential.
