Fund Accountant – Private Equity Company

Compensation: $85,000–$95,000 base + 20% bonus + carried interest potential

About the Role

A dynamic and growing private equity firm is seeking a Fund Accountant to join its lean and high-performing finance team. This is a unique opportunity to step into a high-impact role supporting fund operations, investor reporting, and financial analysis across multiple funds. The ideal candidate will be independent, detail-oriented, and excited to grow with a firm that’s actively fundraising and expanding its portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage capital calls, distributions, and investment valuations
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for funds and management entities
• Maintain general ledger entries and reconcile accounts

Investor Relations & Reporting

• Prepare investor reports and respond to inquiries regarding fund performance and capital activity
• Support tax documentation including K-1s

Transaction Management

• Record investment-related transactions, exits, and fund expenses
• Track carried interest, management fees, and investor transactions

Financial Analysis & Valuation

• Collaborate with investment team to assess portfolio performance
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and valuation reviews

Compliance & Audit

• Assist with SEC compliance and regulatory filings
• Coordinate with external auditors and ensure strong internal controls

Process Optimization

• Recommend and implement improvements to accounting systems and workflows
• Troubleshoot accounting software issues

Ad Hoc Projects

• Contribute to financial presentations for investor and partner meetings
• Support fundraising activities and strategic initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)
• CPA preferred but not required
• 2+ years of experience in financial services, preferably private equity or asset management
• Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
