Vaco by Highspring in New York, NY is seeking a Fund Accountant to support two investment funds and a related management company. The role is hybrid in Midtown with a temporary-to-hire path and a $50–$55/hour compensation.

The position requires hands-on ownership of fund operations, including NAV reviews, cash activity, AP, reporting, and year-end audit support.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of fund accounting or investment-accounting experience.
• Exposure to NAV review, fund reporting, cash management, wires, and AP.
• Audit support experience; K-1 exposure is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a lean, fast-moving environment.
• Clear communication skills

Responsibilities

• Review NAV packages and support quarterly fund reporting
• Manage cash activity, including wire preparation, review, approval support, and cash management
• Process and oversee accounts payable activity for the funds and management company
• Support budgeting, expense tracking, and management-company accounting
• Coordinate with fund administrators and other external service providers
• Assist with year-end audit requests, schedules, and auditor coordination
• Support K-1-related deliverables and investor reporting processes
• Maintain strong internal controls around cash disbursements and fund operations
• Help improve accounting and operational processes in a small, collaborative environment

Fund Accountant - Temp-to-Hire

Location: New York, NY (Midtown, hybrid)

Compensation: $50-$55/hour

Our client, a small and established investment office, is seeking a Fund Accountant to support the accounting and operations of two investment funds and a related management company.

This is a hands-on opportunity for an accounting professional who is comfortable working in a lean environment and taking ownership of key fund operations, cash activity, reporting, and audit support.

The funds invest primarily in other funds, creating a less transaction-intensive accounting environment than a traditional fund with extensive underlying security positions. This individual will work closely with internal stakeholders and external service providers while supporting quarterly reporting and year-end deliverables.

Responsibilities:

• Review NAV packages and support quarterly fund reporting
• Manage cash activity, including wire preparation, review, approval support, and cash management
• Process and oversee accounts payable activity for the funds and management company

• Experience supporting audit and year-end processes; K-1 exposure is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a lean, fast-moving environment
• Strong Excel skills and clear communication skills
• Local to the NYC area and able to be on-site in Midtown initially, with a hybrid schedule thereafter

This is a temporary opportunity with the potential to convert to a permanent position.
