Job summary

LHH, based in Milwaukee, is searching for a Fund Accountant to enhance its finance team. This role involves maintaining the general ledger, preparing financial statements, and collaborating with internal teams.

Qualifications

  • CPA or CPA track strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of investment accounting and partnership accounting concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the general ledger for private equity funds.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Calculate and review Net Asset Value (NAV) and partner capital allocations.
  • Record and reconcile investment transactions including capital calls and distributions.
  • Assist with annual audits and respond to auditor requests in a timely manner.

Job description

Our client, a leading and rapidly growing private equity platform, is seeking a Fund Accountant to join its high-performing finance team. This role will support the accounting and reporting functions across multiple private equity funds and investment vehicles. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain the general ledger for private equity funds, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records
  • Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
  • Calculate and review Net Asset Value (NAV) and partner capital allocations
  • Record and reconcile investment transactions, including capital calls, distributions, and investment activity
  • Assist with waterfall calculations and carried interest allocations
  • Support the preparation and review of capital call and distribution notices
  • Collaborate with internal teams (investments, investor relations, treasury) and external service providers (administrators, auditors)
  • Assist with annual audits and respond to auditor requests in a timely manner
  • Monitor cash activity and perform cash reconciliations
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 1–4+ years of relevant experience in public accounting, fund accounting, or private equity/alternative investments
  • CPA or CPA track strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of investment accounting and partnership accounting concepts
  • Experience with private equity, hedge fund, or alternative investment structures preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with accounting systems such as Investran, Geneva, or similar is a plus
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
