Job summary

Pentangle Tech Services | P5 Group in Auburn Hills, MI, seeks an experienced Functional Safety Engineer for powertrain and vehicle protection systems. You will perform safety analyses, define system definitions, and model architectures using Medini Analyze and MATLAB/Simulink.

You will conduct HAZOP and HARA to determine ASIL ratings, derive FSRs and TSRs, and allocate safety requirements to hardware and software.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Automotive, or related engineering field.
Experience in powertrain functional safety automotive electronics.
Strong understanding of ISO 26262 functional safety standard.
Hands-on experience with Medini Analyze, MATLAB/Simulink.
Expertise in safety analysis techniques (FTA, FMEDA, DFMEA, HARA, HAZOP).
Knowledge of automotive system architecture, powertrain systems, and ECU development.
Experience with Electrified Powertrain systems.
Familiarity with eGAS safety concepts and FTTI analysis.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

Perform Functional Safety Analysis for Powertrain systems and Vehicle Protection features.
Define Item Definition, including system functions, architecture, and interfacing systems.
Develop and maintain system models using Medini Analyze and Simulink.
Conduct HAZOP and HARA analyses to determine ASIL ratings and Safety Goals.
Identify and evaluate risks with various operating conditions.
Derive FSRs and allocate to system modules.
Develop TSRs aligned with 3level eGAS concepts and architecture.
Allocate safety requirements to hardware and software components.
Plan and execute system- and vehicle-level integration and validation testing.
Verify and validate test cases across component, system, and vehicle levels.
Perform simulation-based validation of safety concepts and fault scenarios.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and interfacing system owners.
