Job summary

Ford is seeking a Safety Engineer for the Software-Defined Vehicle era in Dearborn, MI. You will define safety for next-generation vehicles, develop HARA, FSC, and SRS, and produce safety analyses (DFMEA/FTA) while coordinating across systems, hardware, software, and V&V teams to ensure a robust safety case.

Role requires a Bachelor’s in engineering and 5+ years in Functional Safety with mass-production experience; hybrid onsite involvement four+ days per week, strong collaboration, and a focus

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Aerospace, Mechanical, Systems, Computer Engineering or related degree.
  • 5 years of experience in Functional Safety
  • 5 years of experience products in mass production
  • 2 years of experience with Model Based Systems Engineering

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessments (HARA), Functional Safety Concepts (FSC), and Safety Requirement Specifications (SRS)
  • Produce safety analysis (DFMEA, FTA, DFA, per ISO 26262)
  • Support the planning of Safety Verification & Validation activities at different levels of system abstraction
  • Support the creation of test cases (DVP), their execution and evaluation of the results
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with systems, hardware, software, and V&V stakeholders to deliver a safe product with a comprehensive safety case

What you'll do...

This position is a salary grade 6 and ranges from $74,300-$124,500., This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $86,600-$144,900., This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $99,100-$156,200.
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
