Job summary

The NIH Department of Bioethics invites applications for fully funded post-baccalaureate and post-doctoral research fellowships. Fellows contribute to seminars, ethics consultations, and IRB deliberations while pursuing mentored research with a strong track record of publications.

Qualifications

• Post-baccalaureate: undergraduate degree completed no more than 3 years prior to start date or master’s degree within 6 months prior.
• Post-doctoral: terminal degree completed no more than 5 years prior to start.
• U.S. citizens or U.S. legal permanent residents eligible for post-baccalaureate fellowships.
• Disciplinary backgrounds including philosophy, law, medicine, social sciences welcome.
• Research interests include ethics of neurotechnologies, public health, genetics, euthanasia and assisted suicide, reproduction and global health.

Responsibilities

• Fellows participate in weekly bioethics seminars, case conferences, ethics consultations, and IRB deliberations.
• They conduct mentored conceptual and empirical research with potential first-authored publications.
• Fellows engage with the department’s educational opportunities and interdisciplinary activities.
• No prior bioethics experience required; strong interest and curiosity are encouraged.
