Job summary

Compassion Springs SRF in California is seeking a full-time Nurse (Psychiatric Technician, Psychiatric Nurse or LVN) to provide comprehensive nursing services on a 12-hour shift schedule (Sun–Tue plus 4 hours Wed). The role reports to the Program Director and requires CA LVN or Psychiatric Technician licensure and nursing experience.

Responsibilities include medication management, acting as liaison with physicians/pharmacists, staff and client education, group sessions, and active participation

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Minimum of one year of full-time nursing experience; psychiatric nursing preferred.
• Current license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse, or Psychiatric Technician in California.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and direct the clients’ nursing services.
• Serve as liaison between the SRF, physician/psychiatric and pharmacy on medication matters.
• Ensure proper medication control protocols are followed.
• Educate staff and clients on medication management.
• Conduct group/activities sessions with clients.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings.
• Monitor medication management processes and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with the Administrator in tracking medications.
• Ensure timely documentation of medications in accordance with DHCS regulations.
• Ensure reporting to authorities is timely and accurate.

Job Description: Psychiatric Technician, Psychiatric Nurse or LVN

Schedule

We are seeking a Full-Time Nurse to work 3 days/week, 12-hour shifts (Sunday-Tuesday plus 4 hours on Wednesday).

Compassion Springs SRF is an Adult Residential Treatment Program that specializes in the treatment and rehabilitation of clients with mental health illness. The 24-hour residential facility mission is to help clients to regain optimal functionality in order to reenter their community and live healthy independent lives.

Under the direction and supervision of the Program Director or Administrator, the Psychiatric Technician or Licensed Nurse shall plan, organize and direct the clients’ nursing services of the facility.

Supervision Received:

The Psychiatric Technician or Licensed Nurse receives supervision and directions from the Program Director or Administrator.

Supervision Exercised:

The Nurse does not provide administrative supervision to employees, but may provide clinical directions to Mental Health Technicians, and Direct Care Staff.

Duties:

• Participates with the Program Director and/or Administrator and other management staff in planning and implementing the nursing services program.
• Serve as a liaison between the SRF and clients’ physician/psychiatric or pharmacy on medication matters.
• Makes sure that proper medication control protocols are followed in the facility.
• Responsible for staff education, clients’ education, and in-service training on medication management.
• Conduct group/activities sessions with clients.
• Participant in interdisciplinary team meetings.
• Monitors processes and procedures related to medication management and compliance with industry regulations and other such duties as required by the Administrator.
• Collaborate with the Administrator in tracking and monitoring all medications in the SRF.
• Ensure detailed documentation of medications administered in a timely manner in accordance with DHCS regulations.
• Ensure documentation and proper reporting to appropriate authorities are timely and accurate.
• May assist in preparing meals for clients.
• May take clients to out of facility appointments.
• May act as Program Director to oversee the facility treatment and rehabilitation program.

Educational Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Minimum of one year of full-time nursing work experience. Psychiatric nursing experience preferred but not required.
• Current license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse, or Psychiatric Technician in the state of California.
